We met Alan through our Inclusive Futures work stream, which helps people with disabilities into good jobs. Following two successful media internship placements, Alan has experienced discrimination in his job search due to his albinism.
He explains what drives him to report on disability: “When I joined journalism school, the media was focusing more on the negative side of disability, so when I asked myself what change can I bring to society, I say ‘let me go do journalism so that I can highlight the positive side of disability.’”
Watch the video below to find out more about Alan, his Black Albinism initiative and his ambitions to change the narrative on disability in the media.
