We partner with grassroots disabled people’s organisations (DPOs) in Africa and Asia to help them access the resources and support they need to build powerful movements for change. Our focus within Inclusive Futures is to support DPOs to secure access to employment and education for their members, as well as to tackle stigma within their communities and at a national level.
Building on our 30 years’ experience, ADD is supporting DPOs in Bangladesh, Tanzania and Uganda to ensure that their communities are accessing their rights enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and promoted in the sustainable development goals (SDGs). Our focus is working with DPOs and consortium partners to identify what is not working within the current systems and identifying new approaches to ensure that no one is left behind.
“...the global movement for disability equality is powered by the drive, vision and courage of disability activists. We are their proud allies helping them build powerful movements for change.”
“...global problems require global solutions. The Inclusive Futures initiative allows us to pool our expertise and resources with like-minded organisations and amplify our impact.”
“...one of our favourite mottos is from an activist organisation in Bangladesh whose slogan is ‘Not Charity, But Rights’. This is a guiding principle of our work: disabled people aren’t asking for charity, they’re asking for their rights.”
Inclusive Futures are specialists and global leaders in disability and development from more than 20 global organisations.
